10 Breathtaking French Wedding Venues on the Côte D’Azur

Located both in the South of France and with insanely beautiful views, its no wonder that the Cote D’Azur is a go-to wedding destination. With so many historical venues perched close to the sea, often with a lovely vista of the countryside the other side too, it’s an ideal spot to host a memorable wedding.

1. Chateau Saint Georges

Coined as Le Petit Versailles in the area and a southern France landmark built by a famous perfumer, Chateau Saint Georges is a beautiful 19th century venue tucked in the hillside of Grasse, and just minutes away from the world-renowned perfumeries themselves. Located within 3 hectares of land, the venue had a real palatial feel with luxurious finishes and modern amenities, teamed with complete privacy and exclusive use. Host your ceremony looking out to sea and enjoy your drinks reception and dinner on the romantic terrace area. The venue can sleep up to 14 guests and they have several wedding packages available to you.

2. Chateau De Castellaras

Suprisingly whilst looking historic, this wedding venue was in fact built in 1927 by renowned architect Jacques Couëlle at the tender age of 26! The chateau is part of a larger complex called Castellaras Le Vieux which is home to 80 villas along with pools and tennis courts for residents to enjoy. Within the venue they are able to host 110 guests seated in the Cloister, 70 guests seated in the Gala Room and up to a huge 1000 guests within a large marquee in the park. The venue itself has 8 bedrooms on site but you can of course use the rest of the complex to house your guests too.

3. Chateau de la Messardière

Suspended in the hills with a 180 degree view of the Mediterranean, the impressive 5* Chateau de la Messardière dates back to the 19th century, with its history woven into the fabric of St Tropez and French folklore. The venue was the place to stay during the roaring twenties and recently underwent a glamorous transformation, with it being completely reworked for Summer 2021. Host your wedding within their ornate salon rooms and meticulous gardens or in their impressive range of on-site restaurants. There are 99 rooms for your guests to stay within along with the hotel having it’s own private beach too.

4. Domaine Du Mont Leuze 

Located in the heights of Villefranche-Sur-Mer, 600 metres above sea level, Domaine Du Mont Leuze has stunning views of both Nice, Cap-Ferrat and beyond and is surrounded by the Mediterranean trilogy of vines, wheat and oil. It was previously owned by a Canadian University to teach its students about history and science, but was bought and turned into what it is today by the current owners in 2004. Featuring a beautiful main building, terraces and gardens, the venue can accommodate a number of different guest numbers. There is space for 150 guests for a seated dinner inside the house, and their Roof of the World terrace provides beautiful sea views and can host 500 guests for a cocktail reception and 280 guests seated for dinner. They also have a separate terrace that can host 280 guests for cocktails and 100 guests for dinner and finally Le Terrasse Vista which can seat 250 guests for your wedding ceremony. The next day, nurse any sore heads around with pool with cocktails and a BBQ.

5. Villa Belrose

Overlooking the bay of St Tropez, the luxury 5* Villa Belrose hotel is inspired by a Florentine Villa and has a classic and welcoming atmosphere. Set within 9000 square metres of grounds featuring lovely pine trees and landscaped gardens, the wedding venue has plenty of spaces in which to host your wedding, along with 40 guest rooms available. It’s home to lots of little luxuries such as a gourmet restaurant and pool restaurant, heated 200 square metre pool and premium beauty centre.

6. Hotel Cap Estel 

Located on it’s very own two-hectare peninsula jutting out into the mediterranean sea, Hotel Cap Estel is in a really unique spot within the area. With 3 out of 4 sides of the venue being surrounded by water, you’ll get impressive panoramic views on your wedding day and beautiful photos too. The hotel was originally built in 1899 and is set amongst lush greenery and trees, creating a lovely quiet oasis. It has accommodation spread across four floors and can seat up to 70 of your guests.

7. Villa Ephrussi 

Located on the Cote D’Azur, the Villa Ephrussi De Rothschild is simply dreamy and like something out of a Wes Anderson film. Dipped in pastel pink with intricate architectural detailing, this standout venue is a wonderful pick for any couple after a romantic, yet eccentric and one of a kind venue. With curiosities and something to look at with every turn, your guests will feel so lucky to have been invited to such a special place. With a large ornate pond fronting the villa and carefully manicured grounds surrounding it, the venue offers up photo opportunities and moments of wonder aplenty. With floor to ceiling windows, the traditionally French venue is bathed in light throughout, offering up to nine separate themed rooms for you to choose from. Each garden surrounding the villa is themed, equalling nine gardens in total: Florentine, Spanish, Garden a la Francaise, Japanese, Provencal, Garden de Sevres, Exotic, Rose Garden and a Stone Garden. Located only a 30 minute drive from Nice airport or just a 20 minute drive from Monaco airport if you’re feeling fancy, it is easy for you and your guests to get to.

8. Chateau La Chevre d’Or 

Ranking number one on the Conde Nast Traveller Top 20 Hotels in France and Monaco, Chateau La Chevre D’Or is a real treat for your guests. They have an abundance of spaces in which to host your wedding, from their panoramic terraces to their beautiful gardens and reception rooms - it’s perfect for a smaller wedding with the ability to host up to 80 guests. For dinner, you can take advantage of their impressive culinary skills, with their on site restaurant La Chevre D’Or being the recipient of 2 Michellin stars. Located in the heart of the medieval town of Eze, the hotel has 39 bedrooms, with some of them originally being village homes that Walt Disney himself encouraged them to turn into hotel rooms in the 1950s. In between events, be sure to stroll around the stonewalled grounds and take in the impressive collection of art installations, topiaries and fountains.

9. Tiara Yaktsa 

A 5* hotel set between the vibrant red rocks of the Esterel and the deep blue mediterranean sea, the venue decked out in silks, fine fabrics and exquisite artwork invites guests to dream of the Arabian nights. With it’s carefully manicured gardens and infinity pool, the hotel has a soothing and peaceful atmosphere. They can seat up to 50 people at the reception in their restaurant L’Or Bleu Gourmet, and the venue can be exclusively yours when booking for 2 nights or more.

10. Domaine de Canaille  

Tucked in the bay of Cassis on the French Riviera, Domaine de Canaille is exactly what you’d imagine when thinking of the classic French Riviera wedding location. With a combination of classic and contemporary styles, it is positioned on 150 acres of land with full privacy.

You can hold your ceremony on the breathtaking front terrace, and then walk down to the secluded beach afterwards for a champagne reception. Dinner will also be served on the five-thousand square foot terrace, and your guests can lounge by the saltwater pool after dinner or the next morning.

Domaine de Canaille can sleep up to 24 people across 12 rooms and has a 130 person maximum capacity for the wedding itself.
