Built in the 16th century as part of the Duke of Devonshire’s majestic Bolton Abbey Estate, this historic barn has been beautifully restored to have a modern rustic feel. Filled with lots of wonderful features such as copper lanterns, ancient beams, aged flagstones and huge medieval chandeliers, it is one of the largest exclusive hire wedding venues in the UK, with the ability to host up to 250 guests. The barn is perfect for both the ceremony and the reception, and has a lovely outdoor terrace complete with fire pits that you and your guests can enjoy in and around the wedding.

2. Thirsk Lodge Barn

Hidden away in the Yorkshire countryside, Thirsk Lodge Barns is made up of a collection of beautifully restored barns and can host up to 140 of your guests. Featuring lovely red, aged brick, the Main Barn is perfect for the ceremony and can be later converted into the dance floor for your evening reception. It also has a mezzanine which is great for any readings, performers or your wedding DJ to placed on. Enjoy reception drinks in their courtyard alongside one of the UK’s largest olive trees, before heading into the Dining Room for the wedding breakfast. 3. Bunny Hill Weddings

Located on the edge of the Wolds in the Yorkshire countryside, the luxury Bunny Hill is a modern styled barn with a high end, premium feel to it. Peaceful and private within 12 acres of manicured lawns, woodlands and pretty walled courtyards, it operates like a boutique hotel, taking care of everything for you in house. A lovely regal red brick building tucked away within 18 acres of grounds and surrounded on all sides by an idyllic nature reserve, Thicket Priory is a quintessential choice that looks great no matter the season, or what the British weather might bring. Available to hire exclusively for the weekend, they are able to host 157 guests for a ceremony and 160 for dinner, with a late license until 1am. They also include all their 35 en suite bedrooms in their package prices, making it a perfect choice for a house party wedding venue.

5. Middleton Lodge Estate

A lovingly restored award-winning hotel and restaurant surrounded by 200 acres of privately owned parkland, Middleton Lodge Estate is the perfect balance of cosy charm and contemporary chic. Each of their spaces are individually designed, taking inspiration from the countryside surrounding the lodge, with a botanical theme throughout. Choose between their Georgian Main House with large reception rooms, a private croquet lawn and garden marquee, or their two acre Walled Garden and Fig House. A new, decadent wedding venue from the creators of Le Petit Chateau and Runa Farm, The Croft feels like a seriously premium spot to get married. Positioned between the counties of North Yorkshire and Durham, this intimate wedding venue is a fabulous blend of rustic charm and elegant details. They can host anything from intimate gatherings of 30 through to receptions of up to 100, and their spaces interconnect seamlessly. Begin the day in their Secret Garden Chapel, a breathtaking space with antique secret doors, floor to ceiling mirrors and old willow trees surrounding you. The luxurious elevated stone aisle leads you to a picture perfect alter where you’ll say your vows. After this, take a step through the Secret Garden into the Garden Suite for the reception, complete with hanging wisteria, chandeliers and exposed brick walls. With an experienced team of wedding specialists ready to help you, they can provide a number of characterful rooms licensed for civil ceremonies with high ceilings, contemporary decor and floor to ceiling windows. They can accommodate weddings of all shapes and sizes across their reception rooms, from intimate weddings of up to 45 in their Jupiter Room, to larger weddings of up to 180 in their Radcliffe Room.
