Whether you’re currently planning a wedding, are due to attend one or just love a good rom-com, there’s something truly feel good about a wedding themed film. From the touching moments between family members to the hilarities that often ensue at weddings, right now they’re the ideal thing to cosy up to during lockdown.

1. Wedding Crashers
Featuring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan, Wedding Crashers follows John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey, two serial womanizers who sneak into weddings to make the most of the romantic feelings in the air. However, their relationship as a duo begins to change as one of them starts actually falling in love.
2. Love, Wedding, Repeat
Starring lots of up and coming British actors you’re likely to recognise such as Sam Cafflin, Eleanor Tomlinson and Aisling Bea, this 2020 release has it’s fair share of drama. Whilst attempting to make his sister’s wedding day go perfectly, the lead character Jack sees himself tackling an ex-girlfriend, an uninvited guest with a secret, an accidental sleep sedative and the girl who got away in varying versions of the same day.
3. Made of Honour
Featuring Patrick Dempsey aka McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy, the film sees his character attempt to win the love and affection of his engaged best friend, after she asks him to be her Maid of Honour.
4. My Favourite Wedding
A classic Hallmark movie, My Favourite Wedding follows the lead character of Tess as she is paired up with the best man in her best friend’s wedding to save it from going awry. As the wedding day approaches, she realises that the boyfriend she’s been with for years may not actually be ‘the one’ for her after all.

5. Bride Wars
With the hilarious duo of Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, Bride Wars is a fun, feel good choice. The plot sees two best friend’s who’ve always dreamed of their ‘wedding at the Plaza’ become rivals when they schedule their weddings to be on the same day.
6. Four Weddings and a Funeral
An oldie but a goodie, Four Weddings and a Funeral, written by the wonderful Richard Curtis of Love Actually fame, follows the adventures of Charles (Hugh Grant) and his group of friends as they navigate various social events where they each encounter romance.
7. Jenny’s Wedding
Jenny’s family are always trying to set her up with a man whenever they see each other, but little do they know she’s already met the love of her life – her roommate of 5 years Kitty, who she wants to marry and start a family with.

8. The Wedding Date
A personal all-time favourite, The Wedding Date sees singleton Kat hire Nick, a rather dashing male escort, to pose as her boyfriend at her sister’s upcoming wedding. As an attempt to fool her ex-fiancé into thinking she’s happily coupled, Kat starts to catch feelings and family dramas ensue. Set in the beautiful English countryside, this is a must watch in our books.
9. 27 Dresses
Always the bridesmaid and never the bride, Jane is about to watch as her sister marries George, the man Jane is secretly in love with. But in the midst of all the wedding planning, she also meets Kevin, a writer for a weddings column who – unbeknownst to Jane - finds her attractive and intriguing. As Kevin tries to get Jane’s attention, and she reveals her elaborate collection of bridesmaid dresses, he has an idea that could advance his career but ensures things get complicated.
10. The Big Wedding
With a plethora of stars including Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried and Robin Williams, The Big Wedding sees a long-divorced couple pretend to be married for their adopted son’s upcoming nuptials, as his ultraconservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly in for the wedding. As their amused family looks on, the couple (Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton) are forced to confront their past, present and future, and avoid a big fallout in the process.
11. Mamma Mia!
A film that almost needn’t have a synopsis it’s so well known, the star-studded Mamma Mia is the definition of a feel-good film. The plot sees independent hotelier Donna in the Greek Islands prepare for her daughter’s wedding alongside two old friends. However, her daughter has a secret plan and invites 3 men from Donna’s past in a bid to discover who her true father is and have him escort her down the aisle on her wedding day.
12. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
A well loved favourite, My Big Fat Greek Wedding sees Toula, a young Greek woman fall in love with Ian, a non-Greek man, much to her family’s disappointment. Whilst hilarious throughout, it is a story of acceptance as her dad learns to accept Ian, Ian learns to accept her huge famly and Toula learns to accept herself.
13. My Best Friend’s Wedding
Featuring rom-com classics Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney and Cameron Diaz, the film sees Julia Robert’s character attempt to win the love of her best friend, just days before his wedding to someone else.
14. Bridesmaids
All-round hilarious and a favourite among many, Bridesmaids follows competition between Kristen Wiig and Rose Byrne’s characters over who is the bride’s best friend as they plan to outdo each other in their bridal shower and hen do plans.
15. The Wedding Planner
A classic featuring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, it focuses around super successful wedding planner Mary Fiore, Lopez’s character. When planning a wedding for one of her esteemed clients, she enters unchartered territory and falls in love with the groom.
16. The Five Year Engagement
After only one year of meeting, Tom (Jason Segel) decides to propose to his girlfriend Violet (Emily Blunt), but various events keep preventing them from walking down the aisle together.
