Also referred to as Scania County, the area of Skåne in Sweden is a beautiful coastal county that offers plenty of amazing nature, beautiful pristine white sand beaches, fascinating history and a vibrant metropolitan pulse thanks to its city of Malmö. It’s a popular holiday destination for mainly Swedes and is also known for its world-class museums, ancient monuments, historic cold bathhouses and centuries old castles. For this reason, its a wonderful destination for a wedding as it is both located in scenic countryside and is near the coast, but still has plenty going on to entertain your guests on the days surrounding the wedding.

1. Kronovall Castle

Featuring architecture from the late 19th century, the French style Kronovall Castle is surrounded by English inspired gardens and a picturesque lake, forming the prettiest backdrop for your wedding day. Host your ceremony within their detailed Baroque garden followed by dinner with up to 100 of your guests within the castle. They also have on-site accommodation, with 23 rooms available that can sleep up to 68 of your guests.

2. Stallgarden

Nestled in the Cornfields of Skåne, Stallgarden is a quaint farm wedding venue that was built back in 1870. This relaxed wedding venue provides you with a residential house of 290 square metres and party rooms of 550 square metres within 2 hectares of land, that can be entirely yours for the weekend, with access from 12pm on the Friday. You can fully take over and use the suppliers that you wish, with the ability to seat 150 guests for dinner. It’s the perfect venue for those who fancy a relaxed and chilled wedding day.

3. Mossdala Gård

Located in the heart of Skåne and just a short journey from Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen, Mossdala Gård is a rustic and romantic wedding venue that dates back to the 19th century. Tucked within a hidden valley, it’s a private location that can be all yours for the weekend. The venue includes the Lodge, which overlooks the fields with a large wooden deck that is great for welcome drinks, and the Stables, featuring whitewashed walls and rustic roof beams, that is ideal for your wedding reception. The venue can host up to 120 of your guests, is fully equipped with a PA system, projector and even a smoke machine (!) and is really chilled about your caterers, enabling you to bring in your own food and drink.

4. Axatorps Gården

Accessed via a long winding, scenic road, Axatorps Gården is nestled within the middle of the Scanian southern plain and is close to Österlen, Malmö and Copenhagen. Run by mother and daughter duo Janina and Elin, it is a well preserved half timbered farmhouse dating from the 18th century with thatched roofs, whitewashed walls and lots of charm. With a love of antiques, the whole venue is furnished and decorated with carefully selected vintage furniture that adds to the venues overall cosy feel. The main building can seat up to 80 guests for dinner and their standard package includes three double rooms on the wedding night for up to six guests.

5. Agneshill Farm

Specifically designed as a ceremony wedding venue, the pretty and rustic Agneshill do ‘mingle weddings' where they provide their indoor space for the ceremony, and their outdoor space purely for drinks and nibbles directly after the ceremony. The idea is that this can help couples save money and then after the event they can either jet off alone, or head onto a meal with their family and friends. The venue is chilled and laidback with whitewashed wood beams and can seat up to 100 people. The whole event usually takes between 3 to 4 hours total, with the wedding beginning at 2pm, lasting around half an hour and followed by your little celebration until 5pm. All you need to bring is your own drink and any special decorations you’d like to have at the venue.

6. Fleninge Gästis

Filled with history, Fleninge Gästis has been a convivial meeting place for people since 1660 and continues to bring people together for fun and memorable moments. The venue can host up to 100 guests seated and is chilled with whether you use your own suppliers or theirs, at no extra fee. The space also includes a nice pub with large bar counter, seating area and cosy fireplace, a level with guest bedrooms and a lovely garden with a heated orangery that’s great for cocktails.

7. Bjärsjölagårds Slott

Dating back to the 7th century, this wedding venue was originally a royal stronghold for the mythical viking Harald Hildetand, and was later discarded to make way for Bjerröd’s Barn at the end of the 16th century, now known as Bjärsjölagårds castle. You can hire the full venue for a whole weekend, with 52 bedrooms available for your guests to stay in.

8. Ivögården

A lovely collection of a farm hotel, vineyard and restaurant, Ivögården has 10 years of experience organising weddings within their venue. Throughout your wedding day, make the most of the cosy terrace, have a lovely dinner inside and finish the evening under the open sky in their wood-burning hot tubs. They have 15 bedrooms available with a total of 42 beds and guests can arrive on the day before to get settled in prior to the wedding. Your guests will also love taking advantage of their farm store, wine tasting and vineyard tours and outdoor spa on the days surrounding the wedding.
